Celebrating 10 Years of Hignell Gallery

Since 2015 we have continued to grow our vision to ensure we maintain the highest level of expertise and service possible. 10 years of presenting artists within this specialist area has given us enviable access to the best in the industry from the foundries to transporters. With this extraordinary team we have installed sculpture all over the world from a historic watermill where installation required building a temporary bridge to transport 15 tons of crane and bronze across a river,  a clifftop in Sardinia, to a woodland in Massachusetts.  Sculpture on any scale can be daunting and it makes me very happy that so many of our purchasers for gone on to build major collections based on their hassle-free experience. In turn they have recommended us to others saying ‘Just call Abby!'

We have grown the gallery’s dynamic identity and commitment to showing accomplished artists who share a commitment to craft as well as a passion for the visual language of sculpture and the vocabulary of form. We have been delighted to bring accessible exhibitions to communities and place art in the public realm.

During our first 10 years we have been hugely encouraged by the positive response we have received. Thank you to all visitors, art lovers, collectors, institutions, museums and everyone else who has shown interest in the gallery's exhibitions, talks and events over the past years.

When interviewed by The Arts Newspaper soon after opening Hignell Gallery I discussed my belief that the sex of the artists and myself should not mark the business out as different whilst having a quiet pride in both striking out alone as a woman and representing women artists.  What I said certainly still resonates -  ‘You cannot be what you cannot see. So to be here and inspire others to do the same, I’m terribly proud of that.”
